E-book reader for academic reading

This article is about chooing a e-ink based e-book reader for convenient scientific article viewing in PDF format at the beach in full sunshine.

I want to be able to read scientific papers at the beach, or in the very sunny environments where LCD and AMOLED displays are nearly useless. Moreover, typical battery life for laptops, smartphones or e-book readers with these displays is typically less than 12 hours. Electronic ink displays offer to perfect solution. So, which electronic book reader with e-ink display is the best product on the market today?
Scientific paper typically appear to be two column articles with pictures often panning both columns. So, e-book reader for scientific articles got to have with big sized electronic ink display. It is essential to choose a product which has fast touch screen responses, instantaneous real-time zooming, panning and scrolling.

There are a large number of e-book readers on the market. Below I listed the ones I was making a choice from. Also, a new type of color e-ink displays (Triton 2) are coming to the market, but the e-readers with these displays (ECTACO jetBook Color 2) have a very slow response and laggy interface. Jetbook does not even have internet an internet browser yet.

E-book readers can by classified by their display size. 6 inch readers present the largest pool of available products. They are not very suitable for scientific papers, but still can do PDFs. The winners I chose (for many various reasons) from many 6 inch display readers are:

I have difficulty to choosing between these two because they are very similar in all respects.

One specifically interesting product is:
But it got no backlight, even though it has the fastest for pinch zooming for PDF files.

And presently there is only on 9.7 inch e-book reader:
Unfortunately, it got no backlight, no pinch zoom and touchscreen can be operated only by stylus. But being the only reasonable large display e-reader is the product of my choice.
