How I say cheers to my friends around the world

I can say cheers or salute in quite a few languages! And these are not some wrong translations, I have learned that from my friends. The list is still expanding. Here it is in random order:

  • cheers – English speaking countries 
  • kippis – Finland 
  • skol – Denmark/Norway/Sweden 
  • prost – Germany/Austria 
  • za zdarovije – Russia (yeah, they DO say that) 
  • budmo – Ukrainian 
  • na zdraví – Czech 
  • na zdravie – Slovak 
  • na zdrovije – Polish and maybe generally in Slavic languages 
  • şerefe – Turkey 
  • i sveikata – Lithuania 
  • uz veselibu – Latvia 
  • kampai – Japan 
  • egészségedre – Hungary, I love that one, try to say it after few shots 
  • salud – Spain 
  • salute – Italy 
  • saude – Portugal/Brazil 
  • gan bei – China 
  • terviseks – Estonia 
  • a santé – France 
  • noroc – Romania  
  • letenachin – Ethiopia 
  • (be) salamati – Iran
